Chamberlain Grad Talks COVID-19 on ‘Live with Kelly and Ryan’
As the number of COVID-19 cases continues to climb in New York, Liz Douglas, an ICU Nurse Manager, works with COVID-19 patients 12 to 13 hours each day at NYU Langone Hospital in Brooklyn.
“Challenges? There’s too many patients,” Douglas explains, “Trying to find enough beds and staff to take care of them. And we make it work. We get it done. We do it. We move people around and we have doubled the amount of our ICU beds, we create spaces. We’re doing it. But it’s hard.”
After a long day of problem-solving in the ICU, Douglas returns home to her family including her two children, where she switches gears and goes straight into Mom-mode. “The reason the word hero exists,” Kelly says as the interview concludes, “is because of people like you.”
